Erin Dupont may be relatively new in the real estate industry, and to the Chamberlain Group, but she is already wowing her clients and colleagues with her thoughtful approach and superstar service.
Growing up with her mom as a full-time realtor, Erin credits some of her industry knowledge to years of learning by osmosis and says 14 years living overseas plus raising two active boys is the secret to her ability to stay calm under pressure.
It is easy to see why she is rising so quickly since joining our team, and we are so proud of her accomplishments!
On the way to her latest possession, Erin took a few minutes to talk with us about her experience transitioning to a team environment after starting out as a solo agent.
How long have you been with the Chamberlain Group? How do you like it so far?
I have been with them since February, so not very long; less than a year. It’s great. The team is awesome. Everyone is great, and it’s nice to surround yourself with wonderful people, which all of them are. The other staff members in the office are super knowledgeable and always willing to lend a hand and give advice.
Why did you decide to join a team instead of staying a solo agent, and what were you looking for in a team?
I am somebody who loves working with people. I grew up always playing team sports. I like to collaborate and have someone to run ideas off of. Being a solo agent is lonely and kind of boring. I definitely looked for somebody who I knew would help me to grow as an agent and help grow my business. I wanted to learn and I wanted to have people who were willing to share their knowledge and invest in me as well. My number one deciding factor was opportunity for growth.
Has being on a team changed your home life and work balance?
I wouldn’t say it’s given me more free time. I’m working more, but I’m also reaching my financial goals and growing my business. My productivity has gone up, but my stress levels haven’t. That feeling that you can rely on a team is a nice one to have - knowing that people have your back.
How do you prioritize between family and your business?
I spend a lot of time in the rink for my kids, who play competitive hockey. This means I need to be very accountable and work my butt off so I can disconnect and be present for my family. I also love creating relationships where my clients become friends because they feel they can always count on me and know I’ll always be looking out for them. One thing that our team at the Chamberlain Group has in common is that we value family life and our relationships. It’s important to all of us.
What piece of advice would you give to an agent trying to decide whether they should join a team?
Definitely do your research. Make sure you choose a team that fits with your values, and somebody who you aspire to be; someone you want to be around all the time. Remember that you are interviewing them, and ask questions that will show you how the team aligns with you and also whether they are willing to invest in you. Some of my favourite questions are:
How is joining your team going to help me succeed in my business?
Where do you see me in a year from now?
What do you think I can achieve with your guidance and support?
The Chamberlain Real Estate Group specializes in working with agents who have an existing business and want to add leverage to what they are doing to help more families transition in Calgary.
