Sandstone Valley Houses For Sale 

The community of Sandstone Valley is located in Calgary’s northwest sector. It’s a smaller community than many of its neighbours such as Country Hills, Panorama Hills, and Huntington Hills. This neighbourhood is bordered by Country Hill Blvd, Beddington Trail, Berkshire Blvd, and 14th St NW. With parks, schools, and shops, the neighbourhood has it all on hand.

The residents here are very similar in nature and population to the surrounding communities. 6000 people live in this community. Although that seems high, there is a lot of space between neighbours. The predominant choice for housing is the single-family home. Townhouses and duplexes make up the other options, affordable choices for first-timer buyers in real estate. Sandstone Valley has a 39% immigrant population, higher than Calgary’s average.  There is a high number of people with no high school diploma, possibly related to the higher numbers of immigrants new to his country. The average income, however, is higher than Calgary standards, a sign of a prosperous and thriving community. It’s a mature community with an average age older than other Calgarians. The influx of people has slowed however there is a high percentage of residents living in their homes for over 5 years.

The Sandstone MacEwan Community Association covers both neighbourhoods with a volunteer organization that looks after its members. They offer family fun day, garage sale events, block parties, and several amateur sporting teams for people of all ages to get involved.

Sandstone Valley Amenities

Sandstone Valley residents love where they live, and that’s mainly due to what is offered around them.  They have two parks and an extensive trail system that they can use during the summer and winter months. Nose Hill Park and its large area allows off-leash centres as well as over 11 square kilometres of natural reserve and wildlife. This urban area is one of North America’s largest examples of a municipal park.  West Nose Creek Park is also close by with its 73 hectares of trails, paths, bridges, and picnic areas.

The community residents do their shopping primarily at Country Hills Village plaza with its stores and retail services to satisfy any basic necessity. Country Hills also offers a number of speciality shops and ethnic foods like at T&T supermarket with its distinctly Asian cuisine choices. It’s a popular location for the many first-generation Canadians living in this neighbourhood. Within 15 minutes is the popular CrossIron Mills shopping area, located just along Deerfoot Trail to the north of Calgary.

Commuting is made simple for Sandstone Valley inhabitants. The main roads are easy to access along Beddington Trail for Deerfoot Trail or Stoney Trail. The ring road will be completed in 2021 which allows residents to travel all throughout the city with ease. 14th St NW is a major entry point for the city centre if residents need to work in the core. The airport is minutes away along Country Hills Blvd.

Sandstone Valley Schools

Sandstone Valley schools are well stocked for students living here. Simons Valley School is a K-6 school with almost 700 students enrolled. They have modern facilities with excellent staff dedicated to teaching. Monsignor Neville Anderson School is a Catholic school, offering a unique faith-based program to elementary children. They have the choice of a year-round education schedule or a traditional schedule. One of the few schools in this are that do this, they are surprisingly busy with their year-round schedule so enrolment favours those living in Sandstone Valley. Close by are Beddington Heights School, Dr JK Mulloy School and the John G Diefenbaker High School. Diefenbaker High School is the registered public school of choice for this neighbourhood, but Catholic students would wish to enrol in Notre Dame High School in Country Hills Village.  Diefenbaker has a good ranking in the Fraser Institute system, within the top 50 schools in the province. Notre Dame also has a similar reputation, but offering a different course and program.
