Homes For Sale in Castleridge

Castleridge is a community located in the northeast sector of Calgary, right near the eastern border of the Calgary Airport. Although Calgary had acquired the land for the community back in the 1960s, it wasn’t until 1980 and beyond that homes first were built here. Many of the housing is reminiscent of that time period, and the lot sizes show that as well, with houses more spacious and set apart than newer communities these days. The borders of the neighbourhood are 64th Ave NE, Falconridge Blvd, and Castleridge Blvd.

By looking at who lives here, and what the average household looks like, we can determine a better outlook for future households here. The community has 6400 residents currently, a pretty consistent number over the years.Of those living here, the majority choose to live in single-family homes, representing over 75% of the housing choices here. There are also several duplexes and a handful of apartments in a couple buildings as well. But it’s the detached home that wins out. It could be because there is a large number of families here that value space and room to grow. The average household is younger than most with small children. In fact, Castleridge is one of the top communities in Calgary for preschool-aged children. The community is racially diverse, with over 40% of the population coming from immigrant status, first-generation Canadians in the home. Although many nationalities are represented here, it’s a very heavily Indian population that prefers to live in this community. We see that the majority choose to live in their homes for longer terms, 5 years or more for most of the population.

It’s been said that the Castleridge and Falconridge Community Association is one of the busiest associations in the city. Not only do they cater for the dual neighborhoods, they also try to appropriate events that serve the people here. That means that on top of the normal classes, programs, and events, they also help host religious festivals for the different nationalities here, using the facility hall to host several Indian holidays throughout the year.

Amenities near Castleridge Real Estate

The community is well served by several amenities. First, we find a great number of ethnic shops here, a community that seems to both work and shop in the local businesses here. The McKnight Shopping Village right next door is full of stores that serve a variety of foods and goods that the population here needs.

The community lives right beside the Calgary International Airport, a very appealing amenity for those who must travel and frequent the airport often. The neighbourhood is still relatively quiet despite living next to the airfield, but it’s good to be able to be at the terminal in under 10 minutes. It should also be said that for many residents, the Stoney Trail ring road is another feature of living here, quick access to several other communities around the city.  For those who like the outdoor recreation, Silverwing Links Golf Course is a course that welcomes all. It’s a private course that has excellent grounds and challenging holes. Prairie Winds Park is a public park with playgrounds and trails winding throughout, offering great options for walking, biking, or cross country skiing.
