Highland Park Houses For Sale

It wasn’t long after Calgary’s formation that Highland Park was annexed to be part of the city. It was recognized to have desirable land with good access to much of what Calgarians want. The community is bordered by four roads, namely McKnight Blvd, 32nd Ave NE, 4th St NW, and Edmonton Trail.  The community sits between the residential areas to the West and the industrial and commercial zones to the east. This north-western community forms the line between housing and industrial businesses in Calgary’s northeast sector.

The population of Highland Park is 4000 residents. Almost half of the residents live in detached single-family homes. The homes are an older style and have good lots with big yards. These are just an example of the homes for sale in Highland Park. There are newer modern apartments, developed townhomes, and affordable duplexes for first home buyers to take advantage of. The demographics of the community tell about the kind of people that buy houses in Highland Park. The community is made up of 21% immigrants and the remainder of 2nd or third generation Canadians. The income is slightly lower than the Calgary average with a lower proportion of homeowners holding some form of post-secondary degree. Almost half of the neighbourhood is Asian by descent, a telling statistic of the community that congregates here naturally.

The Highland Park Community Association is made up of local volunteers who want o make this community better and more connected. They do this by holding charity casinos, clean-up days, and community gatherings in the local hall.

Highland Park Amenities

There is plenty that distinguishes Highland Park homes from other places in the city. One of the key features is the access to local parks and recreational areas. Nose Hill Park is the feature most noticeable. It also borders along Confederation Park, a popular location for families to have picnics, play sports, enjoy a round of golf at the public course, and wander the paths. Popular McCall Lake Golf Course is very close by. This public course offers excellent golfing in a neat, manicured environment with great views of the city.

Highland Park doesn’t have a mall, but various shopping plazas and outlets are spread throughout the community. The industrial and commercial areas have small businesses and services for residents to use. One of Calgary’s largest churches, Centre St Church meets in Highland Park with over 7000 attendees each week. Access to downtown is easy along two different routes. Both 4th St and Edmonton Trail offer direct access into the downtown core, offering residents quick access point to the business district of the city. Trans-Canada Highway is also close by so residents can get to the mountains in just 60 minutes from their doorstep. The airport is less than 15 minutes away as well, door to terminal.
