As soon as you meet Matt Antrum, you know he's intelligent and caring and likes to have a little fun. His transition to the team was a partnership that grew naturally over the years after building his own successful business alongside his dad since he was 24.
Over the past few years, Matt has also transitioned to family life and loved every moment of it. His specialty dish is anything his four-year-old will eat, and he’s found some creative ways to sneak extra veggies into a picky toddler’s diet. Shhh, don’t tell!
Matt has an energetic yet disarming style that his clients and colleagues love. Since joining the Chamberlain Group, he has impressed everyone with his ability to do it all with a smile on his face and a great attitude.
On a rare day, we caught up with Matt that he wasn't running all over the city to ask him a bit about his experience working in a team and what he sees for the future.
With over ten years in the business, you’re an experienced and successful Realtor. What made you decide to join the Chamberlain Group? I had met Jared and talked to him repeatedly and was always really impressed by what they were doing. I was in the right place in my business; the industry has been changing over the past few years. I felt like the Chamberlain Group was really ahead of the game, especially in technology, which is more important than ever before.
Real Estate brokerages all operate very differently; what was the transition like? It was good. There was a steep learning curve. I was supposed to move over in March but was pushed out to June, just when the market went bonkers. So, I joined at the busiest time of year, plus new systems had just come out, and I was learning some of the team's specific technology and techniques.
Plus, I was still managing my own clients and my two young kids at home. Thankfully, I had the team's full support, which kept pushing me and helped me stay focused. Though it was a demanding transition, I feel like the stress actually helped me level up my game.
Do you feel like the team and environment is helping you add value for your clients? Definitely! It's an incredible environment, actually, better than what I expected. It's pushed me to take my game to the next level, and that's what I was looking for. I was happy before, but I wanted to level up and grow, and I knew trying something new was the answer to that. Having Rebecca and Jared behind me has been impactful for my confidence with clients.
The benchmarks and accountability of being on a well-organized team have given me extra confidence and self-esteem in knowing that I'm an excellent realtor. It's also a close-knit team, and everyone supports each other's success. It breeds more success as we see each other do well. That bit of healthy competition for the team brings out the best.
Interestingly, you have a well-defined target market for clients you want to work with. How did you define that? I think it's taken me a long time to figure out my target. I started at 24, didn't know who I was. Now that established and understand who I am; I can see the type of people I'm best suited to work with.
I do a lot of work with houses in the suburbs. I'm a family man with kids, and that's where I live, so I understand that lifestyle. Even the younger crowd from when I was living inner city has come along as they are also getting married and having kids, so it's fun to grow alongside my clients. I got to help them buy their first condo or a starter home, and now I get to help them find a place to raise their families.
What does the future of your business look like? Do you feel like different opportunities present themselves as a result of your switch to the Chamberlain Group? Now that the transition is out of the way, I can focus on putting my goals together. The goal-setting and accountability are so vital to keep growing. We have monthly and yearly goals and the team has been great in helping me define realistic goals specific to me. I'm motivated to hit my annual goal and help as many families and clients as possible.
