Buying the One that Got Away
How long can you wait to find the perfect house for your family? A few months or maybe years?
Meet our past clients, Gary and Karen. Ten years ago, they found the perfect home for their family, but they missed the opportunity to buy it, and it became another family’s home. But some things are really meant to be! After almost a decade of looking for a new home, they found their “perfect home” back on the market, and this time, they seized the opportunity to buy it!
Finding the Perfect Home
Karen and Gary started their search for a new home back in 2010, with the help of Tony Cusano on our team. They only had a toddler then, but ten years later, they now have two children attending school, so their needs and desires for a home have changed.
At first, they had particular preferences, but it turned out they were not that important after all. They wanted to have a triple garage or more since they had four cars. But they now realize that other things are more important than just cars.
Their main goal now was to stay within their current community. They did not want to uproot their children from their schools, activities and relationships they had built in the area. Even though they wanted to have more square footage, being in a good community was now more essential.
Buying and Selling Process
Selling your first home and buying a new one is not an easy thing to do. Gary and Karen weren’t sure how to handle the whole process. The good thing is they have been working with Tony Cusano since 2010, and he already knew what they wanted and needed.
Whenever the couple liked a house listed on the MLS, Tony was always ready to help and booked viewings for them. He gladly shared his thoughts to help them figure out if it was the right fit. When they found that the house they wanted ten years ago was back on the market, they grabbed the opportunity to buy it quickly, thanks to Tony’s excellent negotiation skills!
Selling their house was a fantastic journey for Gary and Karen. Some parts of it were stressful, especially decluttering, but seeing the result made it all worthwhile. Tony connected them with all the right people to make the move easier and more efficient for them.
They hired a stager to prepare the home for listing. The stager rearranged their home setup using their existing furniture and made everything look great. Then, they rented a storage space to keep the rest of their belongings that didn’t need to be displayed. After staging, they hired a photographer, and they were impressed with how gorgeous their home was in photos.
There are only two things you can control in selling your home: the preparation you do and the price you set. After all the preparations, the couple sat down with Tony to talk about pricing. Using the market data of all the houses comparable to theirs, they came up with a price, and it worked well as their home was sold on its first day on the market!
The Chamberlain Story
Timing is very important. Tony created a timeline for them to get the best deal for their home in the ever-changing real estate market. Karen and Gary trusted him so well that they truly followed his lead. Tony picked a day to list their home, then scheduled the viewings all in one day. They immediately received multiple offers and sold the house on that very day!
At first, Karen was afraid that their home would not be sold because she knew some houses in their area were sitting on the market for a while. That is why she was so grateful that their home was sold quickly, and she didn’t have to clean it multiple times for viewings!
The couple credited their fast sale to the seamless process and channels Chamberlain Group has. They loved every step of the process, and they were impressed that all the promotions were done digitally, so it was very convenient.
