Of that population, around 45% of them come from immigrant backgrounds, many from the Indian subcontinent, the Arabian peninsula, or from the Philippines. This diversity chooses to find homes in the single-family houses, many of which exist for the purpose of housing large families. But beyond that, we also find apartments, duplexes and townhomes as well. Converted basement suites is also very popular here with a number of them along the streets. The Whitehorn Community Association has evolved over the past 40 years to better serve the people here. The community association offers several events targeted at different demographics, such as youth programs, children’s classes, adult education, and even seniors fitness courses. The association does more than simply offer classes. Their stated goal is to build a sense of a belonging in everyone living in Whitehorn and to strengthen the community by speaking in one voice to the city council as well.
