Sherwood is designed to be a community that bonds people together and welcomes them to Calgary’s new north. The neighbourhood is filling up fast, and this is why people love living here.

Homes For Sale in Sherwood 

Sherwood is a residential community in Calgary’s northwest. It lies among the newer suburbs of Calgary’s “new north” an area that has received much more development in the past few years than ever before.  Sherwood was one of the first communities to be built in the area north of Stoney Trail, but it is looking like it won’t be the last. The borders of this neighbourhood are Stoney Trail, Sarcee Trail, Symons Valley Parkway, and Shaganappi Trail. All the businesses, homes, parks, and schools in this area belong to Sherwood.

The people of Calgary have voted with their homes purchases that Sherwood is one of their preferred neighbourhoods and the statistics have been telling. There are just fewer than 4000 residents now living here, a number that has exponentially expanded since the last three years. Over one-half of the community classifies themselves as immigrants, having moved to Canada within their lifetime. That’s one of the highest first-generation populations in a Calgary community. The average wage here is considerably higher. Sherwood is recognized as a premier location to live as the sights, the spaces, and the houses are all desirable. The majority housing option are single family homes, with modern, tasteful apartments making up the rest of the choices. These options contribute to the diverse nature of this community, welcoming all who wish to live here. It’s a fairly young community in Sherwood, the median age being just over 30 years old. There are a higher number of families present here, seeing as there is so much room to grow and expand. The demographics tell us that the majority of the community has not lived there longer than 3 years, proof that there has been a massive influx of residents.

The Sherwood Community Association looks to care for its members and residents through a number of opportunities. It creates several events that welcome in members form the community like family fun days, sport tournaments, and fitness classes. Everyone is welcomed and encouraged to participate in these community-wide events.

Amenities near Sherwood Real Estate

Sherwood was developed and designed to be self-sustaining. Most of the community doesn’t need to leave in order to find great amenities. In the corner of Sherwood is Beacon Hill Shopping Centre, a large plaza with several major outlets and brands. Retail, restaurants, and professional services all live at Beacon Hill, a major service to the community. For further shopping alternatives, residents can travel long Stoney Trail a few minutes to find CrossIron Mills, a single-level shopping centre that is the largest in the province. 

Commuting is very easy from Sherwood. Travel is quick and painless along the newly-built Stoney Trail, a large ring road that is soon to be completed as it winds its way around the entire city. It offers access to all the major centres like the airport, downtown, and any point around Calgary. For outdoor activities, residents use the many trails and pathway systems that meander around the community. The Inland Athletic Park is also nearby, a centre for sports such as baseball, soccer, and cricket.

Schools near Sherwood Homes for Sale

Sherwood students have great schools close by. Blessed Marie-Rose School is a Catholic school offering faith-based learning for elementary and junior high students. Other schools in the area include Kenneth D Taylor School, The Hamptons School, Citadel Park School, and Robert Thirsk High School for senior high students.

Robert Thirsk High School was only recently opened to meet the growing need of high school students in the area. This development of the north has necessitated many new school openings, only strengthening the demand for people buying homes in Sherwood.
