The community of Saddle Ridge is located in the far northeast corner of the city. The community was in place to become residential as far back as the 1970s, but the city didn’t actuate that plan until the late 1990s when development began. There are still sites to be found here, but for the most part, the community is complete and ready for new homeowners. The neighbourhood’s borders are Metis Trail, Stoney Trail, 80th Ave NE and Airport Trail.

The community of Saddle Ridge is massive, an incredible 21,000 people live in this neighbourhood as of the most recent data. This is a staggering number for a community that is set so far out in the northeast of Calgary, but we can learn a lot from these stats. In that, we find a proportion of 57% immigrant backgrounds, the highest percentage in the city. This area is most common among different nationalities like Indian and Filipino. The community prefers to live in single-family homes, the vast choice by a percentage of three-quarters. This includes everything from the modest two-storey home to the large estate on an acreage that we still find here. The other choices include apartments, suites, and townhomes as well. The community loves where they live with a constant growth in this area over the past 10 years. The community has had over 90% of the community move here in the past 5-10 years. The neighbourhood is very young, approximately 5 years or younger than the rest of Calgary. The community is very family-friendly and focused on the growth of these young families.

The Saddle Ridge Community Association is very busy and operates constantly to better the lives of people living here. They offer several ways for people to get involved, serve in their community and be a part of the events and initiatives that they offer. For those who want to know, they also keep everyone abreast of information that’s important through newsletters and online updates. The association represents the voice of the people here for matters of the city council. 

Amenities near Saddle Ridge Real Estate

The community has a great reason to move here, and one of the most prevalent is the access it provides. Along both Metis Trail and Stoney Trail, people here can find ways to commute where they want to go. The community is very open to these routes and allows several entry points along the roads. This takes commuters into the city, around the city, and everywhere in between. It’s also located right next to the Calgary International Airport, a major bonus for those who need to travel often.

The neighbourhood is designed to keep people engaged and entertained, with several green spaces and parks featured heavily here. The community even has a couple of lakes that are used for skating and hockey during the winter. The lakes are kept stocked for fishing as well throughout the year. These parks and open spaces help connect people and are perfect opportunities for running, biking, or walking.

There are shopping opportunities right here within the neighbourhood, and nobody has to go very far. The neighbourhood has several stones in the central hub of the community, but many of these stores are owned and operated by locals here. They have specialty shops and ethnic cuisine as the main feature of living here.
