Homes For Sale in Haysboro 

The community of Haysboro is very similar to many of the neighbouring communities around here. It’s a mixture of the residential and the commercial, with several businesses and stores within the community itself. This is a throwback to when Calgary needed to expand and added homes to land that was originally used for shopping and offices. The borders of this neighbourhood at Heritage Dr, Southland Dr, 14th St SW and Macleod Trail.

Within the community of Haysboro, we can see they types of people who live here and how you could potentially fit in as well. There are over 700 current residents living here, an increase of several hundred since the previous census a few years ago. This is due, in part, to the addition of the large apartment towers that have recently been completed. The housing choices have changed a lot. We now find a pretty even mixture of single-family homes amidst the apartments as well. The houses can be very affordable or luxurious, depending on the upgrades and renovations that have happened to many of them.

The average wage is slightly lower than the rest of Calgary, with a large number of older families choosing to live here. Two-thirds of the population has a tertiary degree of some sort from university or college. Over half of the community has been unchanged for 5 years or more. Neighbours depend on neighbours and make friendships for life here. The average household in Haysboro is a family, children at home, usually older. Many of the residents have older families that have left home as well.

The Haysboro Community Association fosters good relationships in the 7000+ residents living here. The community hall is used for several programs and sporting events for the residents of this neighbourhood. They also make coordinated efforts to build family events that welcome and appeal to the entire community. They offer adult education as well as ESL classes of the quarter of the population living here that come from immigrant backgrounds. 

Amenities near Haysboro Real Estate

Haysboro exists in a nice pocket, an enviable location that puts everything close at hand. For one, the community has access to the entire range of shopping and choices along Macleod Trail. Every store, every food type, even several ethnic cuisines can be found along this strip. Some of the most note worthy ones are: 

For more shopping, both Chinook Centre and Southland Mall are equidistant for residents here. That, along with several professional services, gives residents no excuse to leave the neighbourhood.

The Southland C-Train station is located here, bring commuters in and out of the city. The efficient public transit to and from home without ever having to fire up the car. But for those residents who prefer to drive, the roads of Macleod Trail and 14th St are both popular options to get anywhere in the city. Even the downtown core district is accessible within minutes for anybody living here.

Recreationally, the community enjoys the Glenmore Reservoir as it offers kilometres of trails the circle around the whole reservoir. It’s also right next door, making it very easy to simply walk there. South Glenmore Park is a popular location as it has playgrounds, fields, and plenty of room to run and play. Alternatively, Heritage Park is another fun family destination for many to use. It’s great for rides and throwback to the past of Calgary.

Schools near Haysboro Homes for Sale

What you’ll find in Haysboro are both a number of good schools as well as nearby options that appeal to parents and children. Ecole St Gerard Elementary and Haysboro Catholic High School are two elementary options, both with classes from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Bishop Grandin High School is also located in the community, a faith-based Catholic high school with a strong reputation for academic excellence.
