The neighbourhood is much less dense than other downtown communities as well like Beltline or Downtown West End.

Because of its proximity to downtown Calgary, there isn’t much that residents can’t do. The bike trails along the Bow River are a popular pastime for many Bankview inhabitants. The park is also home to the Calgary Flames in the Saddledome.

In Bankview, the school options are well laid out, many of them not far from the centre of the community. Western Canada High School is one of the top public schools in the city, a senior high located on 17th Ave just down the road. Saint Mary’s High School is also not far away in the Beltline community.
The newly opened Calgary Arts Academy offers K-9 education for students through the medium of art programs. This school is small and sits right alongside Bankview homes. Lycée Louis Pasteur and Banbury Crossroads School are other options also nearby.
Western Canada High School is in the Calgary public school system, but presents excellent scores, consistently ranking in the top 20 schools in Alberta. The Fraser Institute has ranked it as high as 7th overall in the past 5 years. It has an International Baccalaureate Program that attracts students dedicated to academic excellence from all over the city. This school is one of the few schools that have French immersion program as well, continuing the French education for high school students from communities all over.
