The third most family-friendly community in Calgary is Lake Bonavista. Established in 1967, Lake Bonavista was the first man-made community in the city. It was originally a flat land before a huge part of it was dug out to create an island that residents enjoy today. The average price of homes in Lake Bonavista right now is $589,000.
Arbour Lake and Tuscany in the northwest are in the second spot for having the same amount of votes. Arbour Lake was established in 1992 and was named after Arbour Lake in Newport Beach, California. Its average price is $522,000.

Surprisingly, all the communities that topped this category are in the Southeast quadrant of the city. In the third spot is Walden, a newer built area, established in 2007 and was built in 2008. Number two on the list is a true gem that was established in 1982, the community of Sundance. It is another fantastic lake community in the southeast that you definitely want to check out. It also has great access to get in and around the city and it is surrounded by fantastic schools for your children. The average sold price in this community is $596,000.
In the first spot for the community with the best bang for your buck is Deer Run. This community is in an incredible location backing onto Fish Creek Park. The average price is about $520,000, and this community was established in 1978.

The number three community that we voted as the most affordable luxury is Britannia. This community was annexed in 1910 and was established as a community in 1956. Tied for first place are Aspen Woods and Mahogany. Aspen Woods is situated almost 200 meters above downtown, giving you a beautiful view when driving downtown. With an average price point of around $1,000,000, it is much more affordable than Britannia.

In the number three spot is Silver Springs. This beautiful community in the northwest part of Calgary is near Bowmont Park and the Silver Springs boardwalk. Number three is Discovery Ridge on the west side of Calgary. This community backs onto one of the most beautiful natural parks around the city, Griffith Woods Park. This area has nice pathways, a river, and big trees. It feels like you are in Kananaskis or Banff. It also has a gorgeous valley that used to be called Jackson Valley.
Back in the late 1990s when the community was still being developed, it was actually called New Discovery and then changed its name over time. The average price in this community is $644,000.
The second best hidden gem in Calgary is Midnapore. It is down south, right off MacLeod Trail. It used to be its own hamlet until 1977 when they started building the community. Back in 1961, it was annexed by Calgary, so the hamlet got taken over by the city.
