Willow Park Houses For Sale

The community of Willow Park is in Calgary’s southeast quadrant, a part of Calgary since 1965. This neighbourhood is partially residential with a major shopping complex attached to it as well. Sharing the residential and commercial space is a golf course fully contained within the community. The borders of Willow Park are Anderson Rd, Southland Dr, Macleod Trail, and Acadia Dr.

Although this is a community with only partially suburban sections, it still has a good sized population. 5500 residents call Willow Park their home. The community is primarily divided in housing options between single-family detached housing, representing 70% of the population, as well as a smattering of apartments and townhomes found throughout the neighbourhood as well. The community isn’t as racially diverse as other communities with only 17% of the population from an immigrant background. The average wage earned by an inhabitant here is higher than the rest of Calgary, meaning that although other neighborhoods have newer homes, that doesn’t disqualify people from actively finding valuable real estate in Willow Park. The community has fairly standard education levels, with around 60% of the population holding a degree or certificate from a tertiary school. Two-thirds of the demographics have lived in Willow Park for at least 5 years, while almost 90% have lived here for over a year. Those statistics talk about the appeal of having a home here.

The Willow Ridge Community Association is shared between Willow Park and Maple Ridge, to reach a combined population of over 10,000 Calgarians. The aim is to provide a sense of belonging and pride in the community, bonding neighbours together in spite of the large gaps between homes and streets. The community association offers several events and initiatives to make this a reality here.

Willow Park Amenities

When asking a Willow Park resident what they love most about their neighbourhood, no clear winner stands out. Everything seems to equally as good about living here. The first aspect that people mention is the shopping. Southcentre Mall is located here and offers the people a convenient way to do their shopping and find great restaurants in one convenient location. The access to Willow Park Village is also a great way to buy from local businesses and support the Calgary economy.

Transport and access come up as major amenities as well. The C-Train station is within walking distance and Macleod Trail and Deerfoot Trail make up major entry points to the rest of Calgary. If you commute to work or school, this area is perfect as its very central and located on the north side of Fish Creek Park, which tends to divide the south of Calgary.

Fish Creek Park, the Willow Park Golf Course, and Maple Ridge Golf Course make up the major recreation opportunities for living here. The provincial park is full of trails and paths to explore. The two golf courses nearby offer a challenge to any golfer, beginner or expert. Both courses are open to the public and welcome any new golfer to try them out.

Willow Park Schools

The community does have a few great schools belonging here. Within the community we have Willow Park SchoolSaint William School, and Ecole Notre Dame de la Paix. Both Saint William and Notre Dame de la Paix offer exceptional Catholic education, ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 9 students in a faith-based curriculum. The schools have a good ranking from the Fraser Institute with St William receiving a top grade of 41st in the province, a whopping 800+ schools to compete against. The neighbourhood also has great schools in the vicinity to choose from. There is Maple Ridge School and Lord Beaverbrook High School. Beaverbrook also has great accolades from the Fraser Institute with a top 50 ranking in high schools.
