The neighbourhood of Whitehorn is located in the northeast region of the city. It, along with the three sister neighborhoods of Rundle, Pineridge, and Temple, were all founded around the same time in the mid 1970s. Homes here were built up in the 70s and 80s and reflect that tie period. There are also a few modern housing options available. The boundaries for Whitehorn are McKnight Blvd, 32nd Ave NE, 52nd St NE, and 36th St NE.
Within the neighbourhood of Whitehorn, we find over 12000 people living here. That’s incredible statistic that helps us know more about the kind of people who would appreciate Whitehorn real estate. This, including the popular Sunridge Mall, is part of the appeal. This is where Whitehorn residents do most of their shopping and find everything in one convenient place. Besides that, the neighbourhood is also sparsely dotted with local shops and businesses that are run by the locals living here.
The community has excellent access for those who need to commute. Both McKnight Blvd and 32nd SAve provide good entry points into major routes. The community can also quickly access places like the Calgary International Airport, just a few minutes away. For the resident that needs to travel, the ability to reach the airport in minutes is a very appealing amenity.
With all that attracts families to Whitehorn, the number one reason to come here is the schools. We have St Wilfrid Elementary, Chief Justice Milvain School, Colonel J Fred Scott School, and Annie Gale School. St Wilfrid provides an alternative to the public system in the Catholic education school board. This school offers faith-based learning in the same type of classes found in other schools, ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 6, but their reputation for teaching is excellent. The Fraser Institute ranks this school in the top 75 schools in the province against over 800 other schools. Nearby, the best high schools in the area are Lester B Pearson High School or James Fowler High School. Pearson is a very reputable school with over 1500 students attending a variety of courses. The school is well-regarded for having good fine arts programs, courses in multiple academic streams, and a solid athletics program.
