But that gives us a closer look at who lives here. The population is made up of one-quarter immigrants, a statistic we see in just about every community across the city. That population chooses to live in single-family homes but also townhouses as well. These two options are even splits for the choices for housing here. Many of the inhabitants here are empployed and have steady careers, unemployment being very low in the area. The community has slightly less than half of their population living here for 5 years or more, allowing the opportunity for new homes to be listed all the time.
The Vista Heights community is part of the Crossroads Community Association which actually covers Belfast, Mayland Heights and Vista Heights in the one organisation. These older communities have much in common and share identical traits. The assocation works throughout all three communities to provide a number of services and oversee the maintenance of the communities. Vista Heights residents also have a voice for the city council, presented in part by the work of the community association.
