Strathcona Park Neighbourhood Information

It feels weird to call Strathcona Park developing when it has existed as a Calgary community since the last 1950s. But the homes here have been redeveloped into newer, more modern and contemporary homes that suit the real estate climate today. People are looking for tasteful homes in a quiet community, and Strathcona Park is here to deliver. The borders of the neighbourhood are Bow Trail, Sarcee Trail, Strathcona Dr, and 69th St SW. This southwest Calgary community sits alongside notable communities like Signal Hill and Coach Hill.

To get sense of the neighbourhood, it is best to examine the facts about the people living here. The community is deceivingly large. It has over 7000 residents living here, making it one of the largest communities in the west. The majority of the people choose to live in single-family homes, large houses to affordable bungalows in that range. There are also townhouses and condos, but these have been later additions to cater to the growing need for first-time buyers in the area. The average wage here is very high, almost double that of Calgary’s standard wages. The established nature of the community can also be seen in the resident’s ages, several years older than Calgary’s normal resident. 24% of the community identifies themselves as first-generation Canadians. There is a slightly higher educational level here with 68% of the population having some form of a post-secondary degree or certificate.

The Strathcona Park Community Association has been actively making this community better for decades. Their efforts have contributed to making Strathcona Park a desirable place to live and a haven for families to settle down. We see that in the statistics that tell us that 75% of the neighbourhood has lived here for over 5 years, a real testament to the power of a strong community association like this one.

Small and large parks can be found everywhere here. The community has a lot to be thankful for with the bike trails and hiking paths that wander throughout the community. As for other public places, Optimist Athletic Park is very near, a public sporting ground that you can rent for a sports team. It has 8 ball diamonds, several practice spaces, and 3 official fields for soccer, rugby or any other field sports. Edworthy Park is very close along Sarcee Trail. The park has tobogganing and hiking and fire pits for families to use. This is another reason why families choose Strathcona Park.
