The community is perfectly positioned on Calgary’s southern edge to escape to the mountains or take a break on the weekends. And yet, it’s not too far out to have access to schools, shopping, medical facilities, and excellent transportation. Homes for sale in Silverado are on the market but they won’t be there for too much longer. 

Silverado Houses For Sale

Silverado is one of Calgary’s most recent developments in the suburban residential neighborhoods of the south. At one time, this was the furthest community south, but recent additions to the future developments of Belmont and Yorkville have changed that. The community is almost complete, with a few very large homes still being built on the outer edges. The borders of this community are Macleod Trail, 194th Ave, Highway 22X, and 64th St W.

As of the most recent census information taken, there are 7400 residents currently living in Silverado. That is an enormous jump of at least 1000 people since the last census was taken. Over 80% of the homes here are single-family houses while a few duplex buildings and townhomes can be found as well. Those homes can range from small, affordable houses to large houses set on plus-sized blocks of land. The community is very young, with the average age here at least 5 years below the city average for residents.

The community is also fairly affluent with higher income earners seeking out communities just like Silverado for their peace, quiet, and larger homes. This is a very multicultural community with over 35% of the population from an immigrant background. At least 90% of the population holds a degree or diploma from their educational pursuits. The community has seen a rapid explosion of growth with 95% of the current population moving here within the past 5 years. That’s an incredible statistic that warrants good interest.

The Silverado Community Association is very new and still finding their feet. They are succeeding at their task of cementing the bonds between neighbours here by offering an entire series of events throughout the summer and winter. The association puts on family fun days, free barbecues, offers classes and programs through the facility hall, and much more. It even has started to poll residents and present the finding to city council for future development decisions.

Silverado Amenities

Living so far out of the city has incredible benefits. But that distance doesn’t stop people from commuting easily throughout the city. Stoney Trail can direct traffic onto Macleod trail or on the ring road east of the city. Residents here are eagerly awaiting the completion of the ring road from the west to complete the circuit around the city. It just means greater access to and from the community. It seems that much of the roadworks has been directed by city council to help this community with several of the roadways around Silverado undergoing major renovations and upheavals.

The community lives right next to Spruce Meadows, one of the finest horse jumping facilities in Canada and in the world. Every year, this prestigious facility opens its gates to showcase the beautiful grounds and the horses from international locations. Several Silverado residents actually have horses stabled here for easy access. Along the Highway 22X, we also can see Silverado residents have access to places like Bragg Creek, Priddis Greens, and the mountains to the west. Many outdoor enthusiasts seek out communities like Silverado so they can easily get  to their destinations outdoors.

Silverado Schools 

The community has a couple schools located here, even though it’s still in its infancy. Future schools planned here will only increase the options. At the moment, we have Holy Child School for elementary students aged Kindergarten to Grade 6. The faith-based school has a good reputation already for its approach to your students. Ron Southern School is a public elementary with classes up to Grade 6 as well. At least two other school sites have been planned in the community once demand builds up.

The newly built All Saints High School is just beside Silverado and welcomes 1000+ high school students from around the area. Alternatively, you can find good schools in Bridlewood like Glenmore Christian Academy, a private school with several hundred students.
