Shawnee Slopes Houses For Sale 

 The community of Shawnee Slopes is in Calgary’s southwest, a community that was first established in 1980. The community was first built around the Shawnee Slopes Golf Course, but since the course was recently discontinued to due to lack of interest, developers latched on to the opportunity to create a brand new community in Shawnee Slopes. The boundaries of this neighbourhood are Macleod Trail, James McKevitt Blvd, and Fish Creek Park.

As of right now, there are relatively few people living here as the majority of the land was taken up by the golf course. Now, there are 1500 people living here, but that number will soon rapidly expand to include several more thousand residents. There are currently around 600 housing options with a handful of apartments being built right now to increase the opportunities for first-home buyers to enter into the community living. The homes here range from smaller, affordable housing to gigantic houses, palatial mansions that have million-dollar price tags and incredible real estate location. The age of resident is primarily older, maybe 15 years over the average Calgarian age Families here are few, but new families are soon to arrive, decreasing the average age significantly. The income earned here is higher than other neighbourhoods and represents the type of homes found here, appealing to the affluent and elite of Calgary’s south. One-quarter of the population find their identity from another background, first-generation Canadians who arrived here within their lifetime. The population identifies with hard work and good education, with good proportions holding jobs and degrees to back up this claim. 85% of the population has lived in Shawnee Slopes for at least 5 years, a significant number of them living here over 10 years.

The Shawnee Slopes shares its community association with its larger neighbour, Evergreen. The association is very active, taking care of over 20,000 residents in a bid to keep everyone happy and loving their community. The association does very unique events and programs, like community-wide clean-up days, family fun days, summer sporting events, and movie nights in the park.

Shawnee Slopes Amenities 

 Those living here have the benefit of living right beside Fish Creek Park. Many residents will find their way into the park daily to gain access to the multitude of paths and trails meant to use. Bikers, joggers, and cross country skiers will appreciate the proximity to this provincial playground, a natural reserve full of wildlife and greenery. Several trails actually wind their way into the park directly from the neighbourhood.

The community sits right beside the Fish Creek C-Train station, alleviating the traffic that can build up south of the park. The C-Train gets commuters into the city and beyond with ease. The public transit of Calgary regularly moves over 100 million riders every year on the trains alone, with bus lines also connecting Shawnee Slopes to the station. Macleod Trail and Canyon Meadows Blvd form the major points of access for private vehicles to drive. Residents feel they can get anywhere. And with the soon-to-be-complete ring road, residents will have yet another option to jet around the city.  Shoppers will enjoy having the Shawnessy shopping plaza with its hundreds of stores and shops right next door.

Shawnee Slopes Schools 

The possibility of good education is right next door with several schools in the neighbouring communities. There is Our Lady of Peace School and Father Doucet School. Both of these Catholic faith-based schools offer exceptional education from Kindergarten to Grade 6 in a variety of streams and courses. In fact, the Fraser Institute, which ranks schools in Western Canada, has stated that Father Doucet is one of the best schools in the province, ranked at 8th in Alberta elementary schools. Other nearby schools include Bishop O’Byrne High School and Evergreen School.
