Scenic Acres Houses For Sale 

Bordered on three sides by major roads, Scenic Acres is the community with access to it all. Stoney Trail, Crowchild Trail, and Nose Hill Drive allow residents to get to the airport, the mountains, to downtown, and anywhere else in Calgary with ease. To the south, the community is bordered by the Bow River with some of the homes overlooking the valley and stretching out to the west.

As for the residents, Scenic Acres is made up of just fewer than 8000 people. Of the 3000 dwellings in Scenic Acres, only half of them are single-family homes. Townhomes take up almost one-third of the community, one of the highest percentages of townhomes in Calgary. These townhouses, along with the apartments in Scenic Acres, allow new homeowners to get a start in real estate and buy their own property. The income of the residents was recorded to be just below the city-wide average. Almost one-quarter of the population is made up of first-generation Canadians. 90% of the inhabitants hold a high school diploma or greater.

The Scenic Acres Community Association offers its members unique opportunities to those who subscribe. Members get to participate in clubs, attend special events, receive monthly updates from the community newsletter, enrol in sports programs, and help maintain their community’s amenities.

Scenic Acres Amenities 

Scenic Acres, sitting where it is, has wonderful access to amenities both in and outside the community. Scenic Acres inhabitants are surrounded by three high-quality golf courses. The Bearspaw Country Club, the Silver Springs Golf and Country Club, and Lynx Ridge Golf Club have incredible and challenging courses, designed to test even the most seasoned golfer. Memberships are preferred but guests can play these courses with reservations alongside a member.

Within the community, Scenic Acres has several walking and biking pathways, travelling through the neighbourhood and into the adjacent parks. Bowness Park, Baker Park and Bowmont Park have kilometres of pathways that meander along the river and through the grasslands. These parks also have baseball diamonds, tennis courts, basketball courts, and large soccer fields. 12 Mile Coulee Park is a large open park with several off-leash areas for dog lovers in the area. It connects Scenic Acres with its neighbouring community of Tuscany.

Just to the north, the massive shopping complex of Crowfoot Crossing has many amenities and options to satisfy any shopper. The complex has several banks, professional services, medical clinics, supermarkets, a 12-theatre Cineplex Odeon cinema, and many dining options. The Crowchild Twin Arena has two rinks for use throughout the year. There is hockey, figure skating, lessons, and family skating times. The facility also rents out rooms for different occasions. The Advent Lutheran Church gathers every Sunday, a small collection of worshippers that has been meeting here since 1980.

Scenic Acres Schools

Scenic Acres children are in a prime position to enrol in any of the excellent schools in this district. They include Monsignor E.L. Doyle Elementary, a Catholic K-6 school with good student to teacher ratios. There is also Scenic Acres School, a Kindergarten to Grade 4 small school that feeds into larger schools surrounding it. There is also WO Mitchell School, Robert Thirsk High School, and Eric Harvie School in Tuscany. Students can also travel to Silver Springs for the Silver Springs School. One unique school in Scenic Acres is the Santa School, a program designed to teach “Santas” and train them properly in the tradecraft.

Monsignor E.L. Doyle is currently ranked at 165th in the province, providing an excellent Catholic education to the children in the area. WO Mitchell is ranked 499th in the district and Robert Thirsk is a new high school, ranking 128th in the province and rising quickly. Silver Springs Elementary ranks 202nd according the Fraser Institute.
