Signal Hill is a community in Calgary’s southwest. It sits on the western border of Calgary and has a secluded feel up on top of a historical site of real significance to the city. Battalion Park is the location of large white numbers made up of thousands of stones. These stones were once put in place by soldiers training for the First World War. They now stand as a symbol to tribute those who sacrificed their lives in that war. The community is bordered by Highway 8, Sarcee Trail, 69th St, and 17th Ave. It is an amalgamation of several smaller communities including Signal Ridge and Sienna Hills.

The neighbourhood statistics tell a lot about the nature of the people who choose to live here. This large community has 13,700 residents living here, the largest in Calgary’s west and one of the largest in the whole city. The neighbourhood is made up of 32% immigrants, also one of the higher proportions in the city. Everyone is made to feel welcoming in Signal Hill. The predominant choice for housing here is the single-family home. It’s a high percentage at 78% of the available options in the community. Smaller homes and larger homes are in that number.
