The people of Rideau Park are few. Just over 500 people can live here in the housing options available to people here. Half of the residents live in upscale houses, single-family detached units that have decent yards and large houses. The other half live in the modern and spacious apartments or townhouses in the area.
The demographics of the area are more mature, the average age being 15 years older than standard Calgary residents. The average income is much higher as well, a statistic that goes hand in hand with the average education levels of the residents here. Most residents hold a university or college degree. The vast majority, three-quarters in fact, of the residents have lived here for at least 5 years.
People choose Rideau Park to settle down because they love what it offers. At least one-fifth of the community choose to walk or bike to get to their destinations, simply because it is so convenient to travel that way living in Rideau Park.
Rideau Park is one of Calgary’s oldest communities and shares a community association with Roxboro due to the small nature of the neighbourhood. They still have the opportunity to meet together and mingle in different community events that people hold throughout the year. This includes a Stampede Breakfast and many different events on 4th St SW, a popular hangout for many residents of Rideau Park.
Amenities near Rideau Park Real Estate
Its location is Rideau Park’s best amenity, placed in the centre of much of the action around Calgary. First of all, residents can wander into 4th St SW, one of the central hubs of Calgary’s shopping district. The community is so close that much of the nightlife and entertainment of this area spill over into Rideau Park.
The culture of this area is infectious and very unique. Just a little further down the road is 17th Ave, a key shopping area to Rideau Park and to Calgary. This street is the hub of all that is happening day and night in the city with restaurants and pubs that always have plenty of occupants.
Two different C-Train stations are close at hand, offering residents a chance to take public transit to their places of business, often in the city. This public transportation is clean and efficient, handling 100 million riders every year. Macleod Trail and Elbow Drive also offer excellent options for travel out of the inner city. The trails along the Elbow River offer many fun ways to bike and walk in the city along pleasant paths by the water’s edge.
Nearby is the Stampede Park, the home of the yearly Calgary Stampede. It brings in 1 million visitors every year to this area and is a much-anticipated event in Calgary’s calendar. Stanley Park is close by offering residents plenty of green spaces, lawn bowling, tennis courts, and tobogganing in the winter.
Schools near Rideau Park Homes for Sale
The homes in Rideau Park might not have immediate access to many schools in the community, but there are several very good options surround the neighbourhood. They include Western Canada High School, a top 20 ranking public high school with good academic programs and advanced classes. Rideau Park School is a K-9 school with a reputation for success and honours. Rideau Park School ranks as 21st in the province for elementary schools, a prestigious honour for a small school in a quiet neighbourhood.
