Homes For Sale in Patterson
The community of Patterson is actually three different communities rolled into one. This area sits on the southern edge of the Bo River, technically classed as part of Calgary’s southwest quadrant. The communities contains Patterson Heights as well as Prominence Point. They have now al amalgamated into the neighbourhood known as Patterson. Its borders are defined as such. Old Banff Coach Road and Sarcee Trail form a kind of packet, a neighbourhood that is defined by a small area but a large presence in Calgary’s communities.
The neighbourhood is very telling when looking at some of the demographic statistics. There are now over 4000 people living in this small area. It has not long existed as a neighbourhood, only for the last 35 years as it officially been recognized as a part of Calgary’s community map. The homes here represent several options. Upscale, luxury homes sit on top of the hill, providing views of the valley, the skyline, and the city stretching out beyond it. In the interior are several single-family homes, and condo options. These condos were once the location for the media during the 1988 Olympics and were converted into housing soon afterwards.
The median income is higher here than elsewhere in Calgary. The people here value good education and good jobs, much of them consistently employed in the workforce in some capacity. The demographics are also very diverse with over one-quarter of the population made up of new Canadians, immigrant that arrived here during their lifetime. As for the households, they tend to be larger with several families choosing to settle down and raise their children in this community.
The Patterson Community Association offers several options for people here to reconnect with each other. They allow several events every year to link people together and form stronger bonds with each other. These include events like casino nights, family fun days, free sports tournaments, and charity walks.
Amenities near Patterson Real Estate
As for amenities, Patterson is well cared for. The community lies along a major route into the rest of the city. Sarcee Trail leads to Bow trail and the city centre. Commuters can be in the core within minutes of their home, a perk that not many communities can offer. Besides that, there are several options in the public transit system, opportunities to take clean, efficient transit all throughout the city.
The Bow River offers residents several trails and paths to use. They can walk for kilometres along the river, all the way into downtown and beyond if they choose. Edworthy Park and Shouldice Athletic Park are both popular options for the people here. These public parks have several family-friendly opportunities like picnic tables, sporting fields, and wide-open spaces for the kids to run around. Patterson truly is built to be friendly to the outdoorsy types.
The University of Calgary is very close, a campus that extends larger than the footprint of the downtown core. This massive campus attracts 30,000 students every year and sees many of them seeking out housing opportunities in the Patterson community. This includes the Alberta Children’s Hospital staff, a large medical facility that has dozens of specialty fields and research staff full-time.
Schools near Patterson Homes for Sale
For schools, Patterson is a bit light in their own community, but the neighbouring communities more than compensate for that. John Costello Catholic School provides excellent faith-based learning as an alternative to the standard public streams. But the public streams are very good as well.
Olympic Heights School and the Dr. Roberta Bondar School prove to be excellent candidates in the public system, catering to a whole range of students and classes. Ernest Manning High School is located nearby and is right in the district for Patterson students. It has one of the highest-rated programs in the province, currently ranking in the top 30 schools in Alberta.
