The community of Parkland was designed with the outdoors in mind. This south Calgary community is stretched along the ridgeline that overlooks Fish Creek Park. The community has an exceptional vantage point over one of Calgary’s best features. It’s defined by the borders of Fsh Creek Park to the southwest, Bow Bottom Trail, and Canyon Meadows Dr. This long and narrow community is oerfect for escaping the noise and hustle of the big city.

The community is home to a diverse number of people, but we can see common traits among them. By looking at the demographics, we can gain a greater glimpse into who would love living here. There are just fewer than 4000 people living here, a small community by Calgary standards. These people tend to live in single-family homes with just a handful of other options. If you want a house, you have the option of large stately homes that overlook the park to quieter houses on back streets that are more affordable. The community;s roots extend back the 1970s, but home values here have been steadily improving due to large development projects to revitalise tired housing.

Because of its established feel and mature nature, it tends to attract people with a higher income. They also tend to have greater education values with a large percentage holding university and college degrees. There are just 15% immigrants living here with a radially diverse number of Canadian nationals as well. Finding a home here is very fortunate as people tend to remain where they are. Living in a home here for more than 5-10 years is pretty standard.

The Parkland Community Association is a very active part of many residents’ lives. Its entirely run and overseen by residents and presided over by a board that seeks out the best interest of people living here. This includes maintenance and oversight of the private park, several events in the neighbourhood as well as programs offered to keep neighbours closely connected.
