The community of Parkland was designed with the outdoors in mind. This south Calgary community is stretched along the ridgeline that overlooks Fish Creek Park. The community has an exceptional vantage point over one of Calgary’s best features. It’s defined by the borders of Fsh Creek Park to the southwest, Bow Bottom Trail, and Canyon Meadows Dr. This long and narrow community is oerfect for escaping the noise and hustle of the big city.
The community is home to a diverse number of people, but we can see common traits among them. By looking at the demographics, we can gain a greater glimpse into who would love living here. There are just fewer than 4000 people living here, a small community by Calgary standards. These people tend to live in single-family homes with just a handful of other options. If you want a house, you have the option of large stately homes that overlook the park to quieter houses on back streets that are more affordable. The community;s roots extend back the 1970s, but home values here have been steadily improving due to large development projects to revitalise tired housing.
Because of its established feel and mature nature, it tends to attract people with a higher income. Its entirely run and overseen by residents and presided over by a board that seeks out the best interest of people living here. Amenities near Parkland Real Estate
The community of Parkland is very well known for its access to Fish Creek Park. The ridgeline is an awe-filled view of the entire park below and provides a picturesque landscape no matter what time of year it is. Several trails and paths head into the park and residents love the access for walking, running, dogs, and biking. Even winter activities are generally held in the provincial park grounds. The community also has a private park with several amenities only available to members and their guests. The gated park includes tobogganing during the winter, ice skating, hockey with boards and lights, playgrounds, a splash park and a full-sized Frisbee golf course.
The community is close to major roads like Deerfoot and Macleod so that commuting is very easy. It’s no wonder that most residents are happy to use private vehicles to get around when it’s incredibly convenient. The community has its own shopping plaza just below in Deer Ridge. Canyon Meadows, Avenida, and even Southcentre are all within easy reach of the community as well. The community sees a great advantage in having all these retail options close at hand, negating the need to find homes with better options.
Schools near Parkland Homes for Sale
Even though Parkland residents tends to have older families, there are still great school options for those concerned. The Prince of Wales School is ranked well by the Fraser Institute for an elementary, ranking in the top 150 schools in Alberta. Alternatively, there are several other elementary schools close by, easy walking distance for any school-aged kid. They include Andrew Sibbald School, Haultain Memorial School, Don Bosco School, and Deer Run School. The nearest zoned high schools are Dr EP Scarlett High School and Lord Beaverbrook High School. Scarlett High School has a ranking of 36th in the province for its well-rounded course offerings to students in the area.
