The lifestyle of Mission residents is one of activity and access. There is a mixture of stand-alone homes with apartments being the main choice. The community has established itself as a premier neighbourhood within the downtown area, its name synonymous with prestige and convenience. It is no wonder that homes for sale in Mission continue to be at the top of the list for any home buyer.
Homes For Sale in Mission
Mission is a community that sits in Calgary’s southwest quadrant, just entering the city centre district. The community is narrow and densely populated with many residents living in smaller apartments for the opportunity to be close to the action of the downtown core.
The neighbourhood of Mission is defined by the borders of 4th St SW, 17th Ave SW, and the Elbow River. Within these borders are some of the liveliest and most trendy parts of the whole city. Mission is well known as a hotspot for lifestyle and entertainment.
The community has a mixture of residents, multicultural in tastes and styles. Diversity is the key demographic here. Over 4000 people live within this small community, making it a very dense population. Most of the residents live in apartments, making up 95% of the available dwellings in this neighbourhood.
The community has a few single-family homes and duplexes and they are modern, renovated homes with a luxury feel. The average resident is younger than the normal Calgarian. The average income is lower than the average as well, which makes sense due to the younger community. One-fifth of the community are first-generation Canadians and many of the residents choose to work in the downtown area, which is conveniently close and accessible.
The Mission community shares an association with Cliff Bungalow, the neighbouring community on the other side of 4th St SW. The association has block parties, free entertainment, barbeques, trivia nights and several other events that serve to link the communities together.
Amenities near Mission Real Estate
What makes Mission so attractive to home buyers is the neighbourhood’s amenities. It lies in the middle of the best of Calgary, the heart of the two major shopping streets in the city. 14th St and 17th Ave are major locations for Calgary’s nightlife and culture. The entertainment and retail options are plentiful along these streets, major hubs for eclectic shops and restaurants.
This is also the centre of the action every year during the Calgary Stampede. This yearly event brings over 1 million visitors to the area during the 10 days it lasts every summer.
The community has excellent access to other parts of the city. The Victoria Park – Stampede C-Train station is close by, offering instant access to the rest of the city along the 118 km of track that Calgary Transit operates every year. This makes it a popular choice for residents who tend not to drive their own vehicles due to the convenience of taking public transportation.
The community also has the Repsol Sport Centre. This fitness destination has several amenities not found in many other places in the city. It has swimming pools, a 10m platform with a diving tank, an indoor running track and a well-equipped fitness centre The gyms and studios also allow people to play several sports and take fitness classes.
Nearby, the Elbow River has kilometres of pathways along the shores, trails that extend into the city or south along the river’s edge. This river walk can take residents all the way into Fort Calgary and Prince’s Island Park. Biking is an especially popular activity for residents that choose green transportation over owning a car.
