The community is one of the first communities that was built south of the Fish Creek Provincial Park. Along with its neighbours Evergreen and Shawnessy, the community was built in the early 1980s and continued for several years to create the community we know today. The boundaries for Millrise include James McKevitt Blvd, Macleod Trail, and Shawnessy Blvd. This suburban residential area is quiet, peaceful, and relatively unchanged from when it was first built almost 40 years ago.

The community of Millrise has over 700 residents. Residents here seem to value autonomy, with the majority of their housing represented as single-family homes. The community attracts a higher income than other Calgarian communities.

The population is well educated with well over 80% of the population holding a high school diploma or tertiary degree. There is a strong immigrant population here with fully one-third of the residents belonging to a first-generation Canadian background. For the residents, the Millrise Community Association looks to offer a membership that includes a bevy of benefits, local events and programs designed to offer people living here a way to connect with each other. In the past this has included a community garden for all to enjoy, local handyman job boards, and other initiatives to get people involved and connected to the community that they live in.

For the households of Millrise, there are a good number of reasons to stay where they are. Firstly, we have the enormous Fish Creek Park, a massive wilderness right in the heart of the city. Shopping is simple in Millrise since the construction of the massive Shawnessy shopping complex. For those who commute to work, Macleod Trail is the one road that you need, bringin you directly as far as the downtown core and accessing several other major roads along the way. This clean, safe system transports commuters anywhere in Calgary along 118 km of track and with hundreds of dedicated bus lines.

Schools near Millrise Home for Sale

For the parents living here, they value what the community has to offer in schooling options. Our Lady of Peace School is within the community boundaries and offers the residents a place to send their children in a Catholic faith-based program for students for Kindergarten to Grade 6. Other nearby schools include Janet Johnstone School, Father Doucet School, and Samuel W Shaw School. Interestingly, Father Doucet is considered one of the top elementary schools in all of Western Canada, currently ranked at 8th in the province of Alberta by the Fraser Institute ranking system.
