Homes For Sale in Meadowlark Park
Meadowlark Park is a community that sits right alongside Chinook Centre, the biggest all in Calgary. The community is bounded by Elbow Drive, Glenmore Trail, Macleod Trail and 58th Ave SW. The community is a mixture of the commercial and residential sharing its location with some of Calgary’s finest retail shopping.
The community is fairly small in size, as half of the territory is taken up with business and retail stores. The other half sits in a tucked away, fenced off area, separate from the mall and the traffic it generates.
The people of Meadowlark Park are relatively few in number. Just a few hundred live in this small area close to the mall. Although Meadowlark Park shares borders with Mayfair and Bel-Aire, some of Calgary’s most prestigious living areas, it’s not as affluent and exclusive in nature. The average resident makes slightly above the Calgary average and it shares much of the similar traits with the rest of Calgary’s resident.
Meadowlark Park inhabitants are living in single-family homes, detached housing that goes back to the 1950s when it was first annexed. Much of these homes still retain that character and feel, and many of them have been renovated to offer more modern housing options. 28% of the neighbourhood are first-generation Canadians. The vast majority have chosen to acquire some sort of post-secondary degree, giving them better opportunities to find careers in Calgary’s downtown core.
The Meadowlark Park Community Association is a small gathering of volunteers that work hard to connect this community together. They formed a board and association in order to provide programs, rent the facility hall out for events, and hold several gatherings throughout the year for people to enjoy and link to each other.
Amenities near Meadowlark Park Real Estate
The Meadowlark Park community is pleasantly fortunate to have so much available as an amenity to the residents. First and foremost is the mall. CF Chinook Centre is Calgary’s largest mall with over 250 stores within their 1.3 million square feet of retail space. The mall holds a mixture of middle-priced shops with high-end labels and stores.
The community has excellent access to the rest of Calgary along some of the major roads that pass it by. Macleod Trail and Elbow Drive both take residents into the downtown core in 10 minutes. Glenmore Trail is a link that offers residents a chance to get to the north of Calgary very easily.
Also nearby is the Chinook C-Train station with excellent availability to the rest of Calgary. This public transit system offers 100 million riders a transportation system every year. And it’s right on the doorstep of Meadowlark Park homeowners.
The community can use the many trails along the reservoir or the Elbow River for biking or walking. These areas are large unspoiled nature reserves within the city limits that have plenty of amenities close at hand. For example, Lakeview Golf Course is close by, a public course that challenges the best golfers. Sandy Beach Park has fire pits and pathways, playground areas, and canoe and kayak access to the river.
Schools near Meadowlark Park Homes for Sale
Meadowlark Park residents have a few schools in neighbouring communities that offer a great education in the public or Catholic systems. Elboya School is a Kindergarten through to Grade 9 school for French immersion students. They offer excellent fine arts and athletic programs.
Elboya is recognized as a top elementary school in the province. Its classroom sizes are smaller to allow better teacher-to-student ratios and interactions. Fraser Institute ranks it 126th in the province and often higher than that.
