Homes For Sale in Maple Ridge

The community of Maple Ridge is in Calgary’s southwest. It’s a neighbourhood that sits on the ridge overlooking the Deerfoot Trail and valley below it. Much of the community isn’t actually residential but made up of the golf course that helps define this area. The boundaries for Maple Ridge are Anderson Rd, Deerfoot Trail, Acadia Dr, and Southland Dr. The community was first established as an official part of Calgary in the late 1960s and first went under construction in the 1970s, with homes to reflect that era.

The population of Maple Ridge tends to hover around 2000 residents, offering limited opportunities to buy into the neighbourhood. The people here tend to love where they live, with 90% of the population having lived here for over 1 year, and 75% living here for at least 5 years. There is astonishingly low immigrant population at 12%, maybe pointing to other neighbourhoods as more appealing to first-generation Canadians. There are a few hundred homes in the community, but the only option is the single-family home. With townhomes and condos, the turnover rate for living might be higher, but with the significant investment a home represents, people choose to stay longer. It’s a more established community with the average age being higher than other Calgarian communities. The population also values families, with older children more firmly established as compared to younger children and growing families. This is a very family-friendly area, way more valued by larger households over other similar neighbourhoods. We can also point out that people making higher-than-average incomes tend to prefer living in Maple Ridge.

The Maple Ridge neighbourhood is cared for by the Willow Ridge Association that offers a neighbourhood program for both Maple Ridge and Willow Park. The association is unique in that it presents two neighbourhoods as one united front. They offer sporting events, family events, and young child-minding services at the communal hall. They also have facility rentals for members of the two communities.

Amenities near Maple Ridge Real Estate

The neighbourhood is most notably known throughout Calgary for the golf course, and it’s worth mentioning first. The Maple Ridge Golf Course is open to the public and offers 18 holes of challenging play in the middle of Calgary’s south. Other courses don’t compare to the maintenance and technical skill of this course, and it’s become a favourite for golfers all over the city. Other recreational activities include the trails and paths along the Bow River at Sue Higgins Park and beyond. It’s a very popular destination with an off-leash dog park for the pet owners of Maple Ridge.

The community is positioned off Deerfoot Trail, far enough to be removed from the noise of the busy road, but close enough to have a handy road to get anywhere in the city. From here, commuters can be in the downtown core in under 20 minutes, a feat not possible from many other Calgary communities. If residents choose, the possibility of public transit is very popular with the Anderson and Southland stations just minutes away.

With Southcentre Mall and Deerfoot Meadows just nearby, the community has access to some of the best shopping in the city, These areas have stores, professional services, and eating establishments that cater to every whim and desire. The residents here often rave about how easy it is to get what they need on a day-to-day basis.
