The community of Forest Heights is often confused for Forest Lawn. It’s located in the eastern part of the city, a community that is small and contained. The community is well positioned for many amenities around it. The borders of the neighbourhood are Memorial Drive, 36th St SE, 52nd St SE, and 8th Ave SE. It forms the northern border of the similar community of Forest Lawn.
The population of Forest Heights can tell us a great deal about the people living here. There are just over 6000 residents currently living in Forest Heights. That makes up just a fraction of the population of Forest Lawn. In that population, we see that the popular minority housing choice is the single-family homes with detached houses not entirely standing out as the main option. Duplexes and townhomes are very popular here with a few apartments and suites as well. Over one-third of the community is a first-generation Canadian, with a large proportion of the remaining community found in different ethnic pockets around the neighbourhood. The main communities found here at Filipino, Vietnamese, and other Asian countries. This ethnic diversity is unique to this part of Calgary. We see that the population here has a slightly lower income bracket than many other Calgarians, as well as lower education levels around the neighbourhood. Forest Heights is a fairly average community with families both old and young found here. For all other options, Marlborough Mall is a seen as a major hub to the neighbourhood, offering residents dozens of retail stores in the area.
For those who must commute, Memorial Drive offers an easy entry point into the downtown core and to Deerfoot Trail. For those you choose not to drive, there are several efficient bus lines that traverse this section of the city. The Trans-Canada Highway is very close and connects the east and west portions of the city along one route as well as providing an option to escape into the mountains. Â

Schools like Keeler School, Jack James High School, or Ernest Morrow Jr High School or Forest Lawn High School offer classes that cater to the high number of ESL students attending. Forest Lawn High School has dual credit, work experience, and many programs for the community to use. The Fraser Institute, which ranks Alberta elementary and high schools, ranks Forest Lawn as 244th in the province.  Keeler School has classes from Kindergarten to Grade 5, mostly from the Forest Heights area. The Holy Redeemer Bilingual school was closed in 2012 due to a lack of funding and interest from the community.
