With a population that rivals communities like Okotoks or Airdrie, this is a very large neighbourhood to live. And with exceptional access to places like Fish Creek Park, Bragg Creek, and the mountains to the west, it’s no wonder that people continually choose to live right here.
Homes For Sale in Evergreen
The community exists on the edges of the southwest Calgary border. This community is defined by many different boundary lines such as Fish Creek Park, James Mckevitt Rd, and 162nd Ave SW. The community was first built up in 1980 with homes that border the provincial park. Further construction was done to add thousands of new homes in 1999 as Calgary expanded southwest. At the moment, many homes here are at the very edge of Calgary.
The community, although very large, is also very strong. It has over 21,000 residents living here, more than Cochrane or High River. It’s no wonder that it forms a community to itself. The average resident here is very happy, according to the statistics and demographics. They make more than the average Calgarian and live a comfortable life. The main choice for housing is the single-family home with a smattering of apartments, condos, townhomes, and duplexes found throughout both sides of the neighbourhood. The community has a strong diverse population of 39% immigrants. A very high number of residents also choose to hold degrees and certificates from tertiary establishments. There is not a high turnover rate for people living here, further proving its livability factor.
Almost 90% of the population has lived in Evergreen for over a year, a significant portion of those living here for 5 or 10 years. It’s a young neighbourhood with young families populating the houses here. Many of the residents have children at home, often 3 or more. This is the average household size and represents a healthy, growing population living here in Evergreen.
The Evergreen Community Association has its handful with the thousands of residents that rely on their programs to build bonds in the neighbourhood. This includes Stampede breakfasts, several family fun days, community-wide garage sales, and adult education programs. Come summer or winter, the association is working hard to provide an outlet and a voice for the inhabitants here.
