Not to mention that Erlton real estate is located right beside one of the most popular locations in all of Calgary; Stampede Park. With over 1 million visitors every year to this area of the city, Erlton is a hotspot of activity and energy. The homes here are large, well-spaced houses. Erlton residents also have options in luxury apartments and townhomes, popping up in recent years to replace the older real estate. With many options and a ton of amenities, Erlton is the neighbourhood that continues to bring people back every time.
Homes For Sale in Erlton
Erlton is located directly south of the Stampede Park, one of the key centres of activity in all of Calgary. It borders the Elbow River as it winds its way into the downtown and empties into the Bow River. The community straddles MacLeod Trail from the river to Mission Rd. It includes Union Cemetery and Lindsay Park as part of its borders. This narrow community sits alongside Burnsland and Rideau Park.
The demographics of Erlton are small. Just 1200 people call this their neighbourhood. One-fifth of the population is first-generation Canadian. These are the working class inhabitants that live close to downtown for their places of business. There is a mixture of housing across all types of dwellings. There are single-family homes, many modern apartments, townhomes, duplexes, and some converted basement suites as part of the detached housing options. On average, the residents here make more than their city counterparts. They have excellent education backgrounds, four-fifths of them holding a post-secondary degree. Family sizes are small, many of the residents here having fewer than 2 children, if any at home.
The Erlton Community Association works hard with its volunteer force to make this community better for all who live there. They represent a united voice to city council for neighbourhood developments, they hold community-creating programs, and they host events for all to enjoy.
Amenities near Erlton Real Estate
One of the reasons that Erlton real estate is such a hot area is the proximity to everything. It has the best activities and amenities in the southwest. And a major part of this is the direct access to Calgary Transit. The NB Erlton/Stampede CTrain Station is located in this community and is just two stops away from the downtown core. Residents can be in the core within 5 minutes of their home’s front door. Seeing as many residents also drive personal vehicles, they can also drive into the city along MacLeod Trail and generally access any part of the downtown area they choose in minutes.
The community contains two of Calgary’s oldest cemeteries; The Union Cemetery and Burnsland Cemetery. The Union Cemetery is of interest as it’s the burial grounds of many of Calgary’s founders and pioneers. These historical figures were so crucial to Calgary that the city named this place as a historical landscape, to be untouched by the city surrounding it. This creates a peaceful and quiet zone within the community.
Erlton holds the Repsol Sport Centre, a fitness destination for much of the downtown communities. This facility is well-stocked with many options for athletes and exercise enthusiasts. It has swimming pools, dive tanks, a 10m diving platform, several gyms, fitness studios for classes, and a fully-stocked fitness centre.
For shopping, there is plenty of option in the Mission neighbourhood, just adjacent to Erlton. There are several shops and restaurants along 4th St SW as it extends into the city centre.
