Homes For Sale in Eau Claire
With just fewer than 2000 residents, the community of Eau Claire feels neighbourly and welcoming. Although this community ists in the heart of Calgary’s core, Eau Claire is very separate and distinct from its neighbouring communities. It exists along the Bow River, the curve of the Bow forming the natural border to Eau Claire. Anything north of 3rd Ave and west of 2nd St SW is in this neighbourhood. The community also includes the Prince’s Island Park and much of the communal biking trail of the downtown area.
The people who live here enjoy a simple life. They earn more than Calgary’s average, many of them working within the downtown core itself. Three-quarters of the residents hold post-secondary degrees, among the highest proportion in all of Calgary. There are 38% immigrants living here, first-generation Canadians who come here to work and find opportunities for their families. Speaking of families, there are relatively few here. The demographics of Eau Claire skew toward younger singles and couples, many of whom have no children of their own. As there isn’t much parking, many residents choose to use public transit of the Car2Go system for longer commutes. 98% of those who are able to work have a role in the workforce, again one of the highest proportions in all of Calgary.
The Eau Claire Community Association offers the residents a way to connect with each other, strengthening the bonds of this community through events, programs, and courses. They use the membership fees to hold Stampede breakfasts, community street events, and coordinate with the downtown and Chinatown communities.
