Looking at the community of Chaparral, you see that it emcompasses a pretty wide piece of land with homes in several different “pockets” almost like mini-neighbourhoods. The official boundaries are Macleod Trail, Stoney Trail, Fish Creek Park, and 194th Ave SW, The community is centred around a large lake, one of the key attractions to living here. The Chaparral Residents Associations exists partially to govern access to the private lake in the community, but it also exists to build better neighbours here. The association has offered several events in the past and will continue to do so as the community grows each and every year.
Amenities near Chaparral Real Estate
One of the key features of living here is the option to use the private lake. The Lake Chaparral Residents Association offers every household a yearly fee which grants access to the lake. The community can use this year-round, with summer fun including boat rentals, swimming, and paddleboards. During the winter, the association smooths the lake, creating hockey rinks and skating rinks to use. Fire pits around the lake complete the picture so residents can come no matter what the weather.
Chaparral sits alongside major roads so that commuting is very easy. Deerfoot Trail, Stoney Trail and Macleod Trail offer multiple entry points to the downtown core. The community is also set to see a boost in opportunities with the completion of the Stoney Trail ring road in 2022. Many residents here choose to commute to work because it’s very easy. The C-Train station at Somerset is also close at hand, offering exceptional public transit options to get to the downtown core. The C-Train efficiently carries 100 million riders through Calgary every year, making it a sound choice for commuting.
The neighbourhood is also located along Fish Creek Park with views overlooking the Bow River. The residents often can be found biking, walking, and fishing in the Bow valley right beside Chaparral. Many of the residents also love the Blue Devil Golf Club just right next door.

Schools near Chaparral Homes for Sale
If you have school-aged kids, you’re in luck. Chaparral has access to incredible schools up to Grade 12. Chaparral School and Saint Sebastian Elementary School are both excellent schools for children aged Kindergarten through to Grade 6. Beyond the community, there is also Bishop O’Byrne High School, Sundance Elementary School, and Father James Whelihan. Sundance Elementary offers great French Immersion programs and is widely attended by many students from the area.
Chaparral School is ranked by the Fraser Institute as one of the top schools not only in Calgary but all of Alberta. It currently is ranked 41st in the province with very high academic reports and other programs as well.
