Homes For Sale in Beltline
The Beltline is a community defined by where it sits. From 14st SW to the Elbow River from East to West, and from 17th Ave to 10th Ave SW from South to North, this downtown community is right in the heart of Calgary. This community has an urban feel with many businesses alongside the dwellings where people live. This shared sense of community only heightens the culture of this area. All residents enjoy the walking proximity to the best that Calgary has to offer.
The population here is large, over 21,000 people calling Beltline their home. These residents are predominately singles and married couples without children. There are very few people under the age of 15 in the community. 96% of the community lives in an apartment.
Townhouses represent the other percentage while there are virtually no single-family homes in the area. Because of the dense population, detached homes are an anomaly in the neighbourhood. This community is also distinctly younger than the average Calgarian, the average age here just 33.
Almost three-quarters of the residents hold some form of a post-secondary degree, while the median income is lower than the Calgary average. 94% of the community is employed in the workforce in some capacity, a great proportion of those working in the downtown core itself.
The Beltline is a popular choice of real estate for those who work in the offices and businesses in the area. Not many residents own cars in the Beltline for two reasons. Parking is at a premium in this area, and much of the downtown is readily accessible by walking, biking or downtown transit systems.
The Beltline Community Association uses volunteers and donation to run several events within the neighbourhood. The association looks after the cleanliness of several city parks, maintains clean-up days, and hosts block parties for residents to attend.
Amenities near Beltline Real Estate
The Beltline is loaded with amenities because of its proximity to downtown. The core of Calgary has the best shopping in the entire city. The shopping on 17th Ave SW is a popular destination for all. The street is lined with local restaurants, bars and pubs.
One of the most famous restaurants here is the Calcutta Cricket Club which serves local Indian cuisine that is rated among the top Indian restaurants in the city.
Core Shopping Centre is a downtown shopping complex that is joined by Calgary’s +15 system, allowing residents to walk from one of the downtowns to the other without ever walking outdoors, an essential feature during Calgary’s winters.
The community contains the Calgary Stampede Grounds, one of Calgary’s most popular areas. It has the Calgary Saddledome, an iconic building that is home to the Calgary Flames and a regular venue for many international music tours. Every year, the Calgary Stampede takes over the Park for 10 days, attracting over 1 million visitors to the Beltline area during the course of the event.
There are some green spaces and parks scattered throughout the community, but the downtown area is too dense for large parks in this area. Residents instead head to Eau Claire or wander along the Bow River to escape the city feel. Central Memorial Park is a landscaped garden with many benches and paths for residents to enjoy.
Schools near Beltline Homes for Sale
Of the schools in central Calgary, the Beltline is home to most of them. Many schools here pull in students from all over Calgary, not just the Beltline region. Western Canada High School is located along 17th Ave, a popular high school choice for many Calgarians. St Mary’s High School is the Catholic equivalent, a high school popular in the Catholic school system. Connaught Community School has a Kindergarten to Grade 6 program for the children living with the downtown core.
Western Canada High School often ranks in the top ten schools in the province, currently sitting just below that mark. This is due to an excellent International Baccalaureate program that offers advanced classes on par with other schools around the world.
