To the east, Altadore is lined by the Elbow River and the surrounding park and ravine into the river valley. To the south is 50th Ave SW and the North Glenmore community.

Just fewer than half of the dwellings are single-family homes, with apartments, townhomes, duplexes, and converted structures making the other half. By all measures, Altadore is doing well and presents excellent real estate and community prospects.

Within the community and surrounding it, you’ll find amenities unlike anywhere else in Calgary. This community has some of the best shopping, the best park systems, and the best access to services and facilities in all of Calgary.
To begin, the Elbow River forms the natural boundary of this neighbourhood and residents enjoy River Park, a ridge that overlooks the river and Sandy Beach Park. Right next door to the museum is the Flames Community Arenas, hockey rinks that give residents professional ice to play and skate upon. The Garrison Curling Club also meets nearby.
