Palliser Neighbourhood Information

The community of Palliser is an older Calgary community, with roots that extend into the 70s and 1960s as well. You can see those remnants when you see some of the older style homes found on every block. These, along with the large housing, offer a chance for every taste and preference in real estate. The boundaries of this community are 90th Ave SW, Southland Dr, 24th St SW, and 19th St. As for size, it’s about half the normal footprint found in other Calgary communities.

This is a very small neighbourhood compared to other communities, so we can get a greater sense of the people here because they represent a smaller cross section. There are just over 3000 residents in Palliser. They are made up of predominantly native Calgarians with around 20% immigrants. The population here live in apartments first with single-family homes second to those condominium developments. There are a few townhomes and duplexes found here as well. We know that people here tend to earn a little less than the normal Calgarian, but they have an excellent commitment to education, with over 90% of them holding at least a high school diploma or degree. The community has strong diversity but they all share family values. The normal hosuehold is made up of families, usually smaller and older in age. The community inspires a more permanent housing option with 82% of the population living in their home for at least a year with 60% living here for at least 5 years. The community is mature in age and stature, having more senior residents than many other Calgary neighborhoods.

The Palliser community association is shared among the neighbourhoods of Pump HIll and Bayview as well. They all have equal values and share a common goal to improve their neighborhoods. The association looks after these three areas with developed initiatives designed to bring bonds and strengthen the relationships of people here. Look for events and programs year round to bring people together.

Palliser Amenities

The community enjoys a healthy amount of amenities, a great joy to those living here and want more out of their neighbourhoods. But this will become even easier in the near future when the ring road passes right by the community when it’s completed in 2022. The neighbourhood enjoys a sense of privacy while keeping closely connected to the rest of Calgary.

For recreation, the nearby Glenmore Reservoir provides that in abundance. South Glenmore Park is the starting point for many residents who want to run, bike, or walk around the lake. The pathway system is maintained year round and used that whole time as well. Other little parks can be found in the area with good access to playgrounds everywhere. The Glenmore Landing plaza is a popular shopping complex with a self-contained compound that has everything that residents need for their daily use.
