Real estate in Ogden lies on tree-lined roads with large lots per house. What’s more, is that the community has a strong bond between people living here with staggering numbers of people living here for long periods of time. What keeps this neighbourhood at the forefront of Calgary real estate? Find out more below.

Ogden Houses For Sale

The community of Ogden is actually a fairly old community, built and established in the late 1960s and early 1970s. This creates a rich history for the homes here. The neighbourhood is made up of large homes, set in an area that doesn’t have any neighbouring communities around it. The large CPR yard is a deterrent to further develop the surrounding areas. The borders of Ogden are Glenmore Trail, the Bow River, and that Canadian Pacific Rail yard.

The community has just shy of 9000 residents currently living here. The community has a pretty steady growth rate with just 14% of the community coming from an immigrant background. To give a comparison, that represents about half of the normal for other Calgary communities. Two-thirds of the population living here has been in Ogden for over 5 years, many reporting living in their homes upwards of 10-20 years.

This is a community with longevity in mind. Although you’ll find normal single-family homes here, the community has a few other structures for housing. You can find several duplexes, apartments, and townhomes here. The homes can range from older bungalow houses to newer, more modern buildings in a craze of redevelopment that has seen Ogden redefined. The community is actually quite young compared to other similarly-aged communities. There are a number of young families who have found homes here, making their stake in a community for its history and longevity. The community has a slightly lower income average to the other communities in Calgary with less educated residents than similar communities.

The Ogden Community Association uses a communal hall to launch events for the residents living here. Most of the people have a good connection to each other through the events and programs that the association offers every year. These include several breakfasts and barbecues, family events, and community clean-ups to being more aware of community maintenance.

Ogden Amenities

The population of Ogden chooses to live here, and they make no qualms about it. They love where they live, and its sue in part to it’s position along the Bow River. The river is a beautiful backdrop with several homes with the city skyline in view as well. The river offers fishing and boating, a popular activity during the summer months for many living here. The rover also has several trails to use for walking the dog or going for a bike ride. Carburn Park is one such location with several Ogden residents using it on a daily basis.

The community has Chinook Centre, Calgary’s largest mall, just a few minutes down the road. The mall has everything in one location, several stores and high-quality brands found here. The community has access to professional shops and restaurants as well in this one location. The Deerfoot Meadows plaza is another recognized area with great opportunities to shop for anything and everything under the sun.

The community has Glenmore Trail to access much of what they use, as well as Deerfoot Trail and unrestricted access to the Stoney Trail ring road. Many public transit systems help keep residents connected through buses and C-Train access.
