Evanston Houses For Sale 

Evanston is a suburban neighbourhood in Calgary’s northwest. This area has been designated as Calgary’s new north due to all the construction and development that is popping up in the past years. Several communities are being planned to surround this neighbourhood, and Evanston is primed to take advantage of the boom in interest and money. The community sits on the north side of Stoney Trail, bounded on either side by 14th St NW and Symons Valley Rd. Kincora and Carrington are their neighbours, also very new communities. The neighbourhood is a diverse group of people, many of whom are families looking to settle down in a safe and friendly environment. Evanston has been expanding rapidly since its inception. It now has over 10,000 residents, almost double that of 3 years ago. Many people are moving into the newly-built single-family homes that make up the majority of the community. Duplexes and modern condos make up the remainder of the options. This is a fairly young community with the average age less than the city standard. They tend to earn more in their jobs with the median income much higher than Calgary’s average as well. Evanston has a high immigration rate with 29% of the neighbourhood being first-generation Canadians. Because Evanston is so new, the numbers still reflect a high rate of people moving to the neighbourhood. Around 90% of households are made up of some family unit with children at home. It’s a popular place to raise children.

Evanston Creekside Community Association was formed not long after the community itself was formed. The neighbourhood association looks to create events and programs that will form long-lasting bonds between neighbours and further strengthen the pride of this neighbourhood. They have done this through community high-profile events like the Parade of Garage Sales and several gatherings in the public places.

Evanston Amenities  

Evanston has great amenities that have recently opened with many more options on the way. The Evanston Town Centre is a small shopping plaza that offers basic necessities and amenities to the public. This includes a grocery store and a bank. The Creekside Shopping Centre is also located in the boundaries of Evanston, another hub for essentials. For more expansive shopping opportunities, residents love to visit the CrossIron Mills shopping centre, the largest single-level shopping complex in Alberta. It has many warehouse and big store options, and its so close along the Stoney Trail route.

As for transportation, Stoney Trail is one of the main thoroughfares that residents use daily to get to where they need to go. They can access nearly every part of the city, and with the completion of the ring road in 2021, they’ll be able to successfully travel around the city very easily. Beddington Trail offers residents a quick access to Deerfoot Trail and the airport terminals.

Evanston is known as the community with few fences and many open spaces. Large green parks dot the neighbourhood, giving everybody a place to play, meet, and enjoy the area. Several soccer fields and ball diamonds can be found throughout as well, perfect venues for sports and a bit of fun.  For more advanced biking and walking trails, residents can use the West Nose Creek Park, a popular destination with trails, bridges, and a meandering creek to explore.

Evanston Schools

The school options in Evanston continue to expand as more people move into Calgary’s new north. The area already has the Our Lady of Grace School, a Catholic elementary offering good faith-based education in the religious school system. Kenneth D Taylor School is a K-4 school that focuses its efforts on the younger elementary children. Buffalo Rubbing Stone School is another elementary school in Panorama Hills. Notre Dame High School is located in Country Hills Village close by.
