The community of Crestmont is a new community, still under development. The community is located along the Trans-Canada highway, a suburban outcropping beyond the reach of other neighbourhoods. The community is defined by the highway and is bordered by no other community or road. This forms a secluded, tucked-away feel for residents coming home to Crestmont.
The community is still expanding, but we already have an idea about the people living there. At the moment, around 1400 people live in this neighbourhood. There are only single-family homes here, the only option for families and couples who choose to buy a home in Crestmont. There are plans to develop tasteful condos, luxury apartments to expand the reach of this community’s appeal to first-time buyers. The average income is very high, a community of well-educated residents that value the distance from other communities and proximity to the mountains. Compared to the rest of Calgary, they tend to earn double the rate of the normal earners in the city. There are only 6% of the community that doesn’t have a degree or diploma. Around one-quarter of the population are immigrants from several nations. The majority of the neighbourhood has moved here within the last year, a tremendous sign that Crestmont is gaining appeal and attraction.
The Crestmont Community Association is a fairly new association that cares for the community with events and initiatives to gather everyone together. One of those community events is a community clean-up day that sees people from all over join together to better their neighbourhood. That’s the main drive of this association.
As for amenities, the community itself is fairly new. Most of the options are further in town, although there are a few choices for residents living here. For one, the main Trans-Canada Highway provides quick access to Banff and the mountains. Outdoor lovers prefer living in Crestmont simply because it’s an easy access to the natural parks out west. Just down the road is Calaway Park, a massive outdoor activity park for families. The park has dozens of rides, games, and entertainment options for people of all ages to enjoy. Winsport and Canada Olympic Park are also close by. This park has dozens attractions for fitness and sports enthusiasts. It also has a very well equipped fitness centres that attracts training athletes from all over the city.
Some shopping opportunities exist in Valley Ridge across the highway. This includes all the basic necessities that residents could need. Further shopping exists in Bowness or Arbour Lake’s Crowfoot Crossing. These are the major areas for shopping, even though they require a bit of driving to access. Several golf courses surround the community such as Lynx Ridge Golf Course or Valley Ridge Golf Club. Both courses have challenging holes laid out on grounds that are well-maintained and very meticulously cared for. For good river access, Bowness Park provides year-round activities for all residents including skating, picnics, and tobogganing.
Crestmont has several schools surrounding it. There are several public school, but also a few private schools that cater to the residents of Calgary‘s western districts. The closest schools are found in Bowness such as Bowness High School, Belvedere Parkway School, and Bowcroft School. West Springs School and St Joan of Arc School are good options for residents with elementary students. The St Joan of Arc School is a Catholic faith-based school for Kindergarten through to Grade 9 students. The school has a ranking of 25th in the province, one of the premier elementary schools in in the city. Bowness High School has an excellent athletics programs, having great success with their sports teams competing against other schools throughout the city and the province.
