Collingwood Houses For Sale 

Collingwood is located in the area of the Northwest that has an extensive history in Calgary, bordered by communities like Charleswood, Cambrian Heights, and Rosemont. These communities have seen a revival in the past few years with several homes becoming in demand for its proximity to downtown and quiet, relaxed feel.

The community is bordered on the north by Nose Hill Park, a popular destination for walking and biking. On the south, it sits alongside the Confederation Park Golf course, perfect for those who enjoy a hit or two on the greens. And dotted throughout the community are several open, public green parks and spaces for residents to enjoy.

Collingwood homes are geared towards space more homes listed as single-family dwellings or duplexes than the rest of Calgary’s average. There are some apartments and townhomes, but residents here value having a plot of land to call their own. The community may be small, with just over 2000 residents, but the community is strong. The average income is well above the Calgary average, marking this as a fairly affluent community with homes that are still affordable to the average buyer.

With its access to Highway 1, John Laurie Boulevard, and 14th St NW, the community feels very accessible from every direction.

Collingwood Amenities

Collingwood may be small, but it is rich in amenities. To begin, the parks that sit adjacent to this suburb provide the residents with year-round entertainment and an escape to the outdoors, no matter the season. Nose Hill Park is the prominent municipal park that borders Collingwood to the north. It provides over 11 square kilometres of natural grassland and trees to enjoy. Trails go all over the park and provide excellent biking and walking opportunities during the summer. During the winter, cross-country skiers and snowshoers make use of the trails.

To the south is the Confederation Park Golf Course. This 9-hole golf course is open to the public and provides a beautiful location to hit a few balls onto the fairway. The course has a well-maintained course, a driving range, and a putting green. Reservations are not required for this public course, but they are recommended due to its popularity.

Canmore Park, or North Capitol Hill Park, is just to the southwest of Collingwood. This park is an active centre for residents to enjoy, operated and maintained by the city of Calgary. It has tennis courts, a splash park that operates during the hot months, and several ball diamonds and fields for sports.

Just nearby to the community is the University of Calgary campus as well as the North Hill Shopping Centre just to the south.  

A popular destination among the locals is the Riverstone Pub, providing a cosy place to enjoy some time with friends, watch the game on the big screen, and connect with the community. Collingwood also has the Canadian Martyrs Church alongside the St Francis High School campus, with a daily mass for the Catholic worshippers of the area.

Collingwood Schools 

Collingwood is in an excellent schooling district with good proximity to many schools for all ages. The schools within the community include Collingwood School, a Kindergarten to Grade 5 elementary school. There is St Francis High School, a Catholic high school that has a good reputation for education. There is also St Margaret Elementary and Junior High, offering Catholic education from K-9.

St Francis High School is well known in Calgary as committing to educational excellence within their student body. The school ranks as 31st in the province, as measured by the Fraser Institute. The school has a large student body of over 1200 students and provides them with a wealth of programs to suits their needs. Collingwood Elementary is unique in the public system as a school that has an International Spanish Academy with a fully bilingual program. The school has proved excellent at reaching the growing Spanish-speaking population in Calgary.
