The community of Charleswood has a median income higher than the rest of Calgary, making it a perfect place for professionals and older families to reside. Over 90% of the homes in Charleswood are single family dwellings with the majority of residents holding some form of higher education degrees and certifications. Charleswood is bordered to the north by Nose Hill Park. It also sits adjacent to the University of Calgary and Highway 1A. Charleswood is a small community by Calgary standards, with just over 3000 residents within its borders. For this reason, Charleswood might not have many amenities within its boundaries, but it does have excellent resources in the neighbouring communities of Brentwood, Collingwood, and Triwood. The Charleswood residents have excellent access to the Brentwood LRT, located near the corner of the Charleswood/Brentwood border. With the LRT, commuters can reach downtown Calgary in just 20 minutes.

Brentwood Village has plenty of shopping options like fast food restaurants, professional services, supermarkets, and a number of banks. Located on the corner of Crowchild Trail and 32nd Ave NW, Brentwood village is a popular destination for shoppers all over the northwest of Calgary.

Just over the road at Canada Olympic Park is the newly renovated Winsport, an athletic park dedicated to providing fun and entertainment and world-class facilities. Winsport offers mountain bike trail riding, summer bobsleigh rides, the fastest zipline in North America, freefall jumps, mini golf and much more. Winter activities include skiing, snowboard parks, luge rides, a tube park, and winter trails to snowshoe and cross-country ski.

For Charleswood residents who love the outdoors, Nose Hill Park is ideal. Walkers, bikers, and explorers can take advantage of these 11 square kilometres of municipal park, one of the largest in North America. It’s trails and off-leash areas are great for dog-walkers. The park gives a great glimpse of the natural wildlife of Alberta and the prairie grasslands. One of the other popular parks that Charleswood borders is Canmore Park, also known as North Capitol Hill Park. This park is rich with activities for families and people of all ages. There are tennis courts, ball diamonds, picnic tables, and a spray park operating during the summer months.

Charleswood Schools

Charleswood is serviced by several schools in the area and has extensive options for kids of all ages. There is Banff Trail Elementary, Collingwood Elementary, Senator Patrick Burns School, William Aberhart High School, and St Francis High School. Although only Senator Patrick Burns is located in Charleswood, the rest are close enough to walk or bike.

William Aberhart High School is an excellent high school with 500 students enrolled in Grade 12, ranked 31st in the province. It offers a French immersion program, a Spanish bilingual program and a program for international students. Banff Trail school is currently ranked 165th in elementary schools across the province. St Francis High School in the Catholic Board is ranked 31st and offers a wide special needs program.
