The community of Bridlewood resides in the southwest quadrant of Calgary, existing on the outskirts of the city with nothing beyond it. There are 12,500 residents living in the community right now. This makes it Bridlewood one of the largest neighbourhoods in the southwest, comparable to other communities like Evergreen or Shawnessy. The community is very popular with immigrants with Bridlewood being populated with 37% first-generation Canadians. Over three-quarters of the homes here are single family detached houses. But there are also thousands of apartments, townhouses, and duplexes to offer the first-home buyers who aren’t ready to commit to a full house. The community earns well, making more per year than the Calgary average. That comes from a high percentage of people holding degrees or certificates from tertiary education options. The average age of the community is lower than Calgary’s standard with many young families choosing to raise children living here. The average household size of 4 tells us that there are more appealing options here than other communities nearby. 84% of the population here have lived in their homes for at least a year. Many of them have lived here in Bridlewood for at least 5 years.

The Somerset-Bridlewood Community Association is a large volunteer-led organisation that helps residents feel connected and known. The two neighbouring communities share the same values and principles, which is why the association looks after both sides of the road. The association offers memberships to residents here, a low yearly fee to participate in the many benefits that come with this association.

Bridlewood Amenities

Bridlewood has the benefit of living on the edge of Calgary, making it extremely easy to escape to the mountains or to the Kananaskis country in under an hour. There is no traffic to fight or city to drive through when you live in the edge of Calgary. This is only going to get better as the Stoney Trail ring road is due to be complete in 2020. Bridlewood Schools 

There are great schooling options here for students. Schools like Bridlewood School, an elementary school with classes up to Grade 6 students. Monsignor J.J. O’Brien School is a Catholic school for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. One of the premier private schools in the city, Glenmore Christian Academy, is found right here in Bridlewood as well. These schools, plus many more in the area, offer endless options for students and parents here. The Fraser Institute ranks Monsignor O’Brien school as 200th in the province for its academic programs.
