Banff Trail Houses For Sale

The community of Banff Trail is so named because it sits on the Trans-Canada Highway, the major thoroughfare to quickly access Banff to the west. It is literally on the trail to Banff, but residents can access much more than that. The Banff Trail C-Train station gets residents to downtown in 15 minutes, and driving is just as easy along the Highway 1 or on Crowchild Trail. It’s also bordered by Canmore Park to the northeast of the neighbourhood, a large municipal park with an attached golf course.

The inhabitants of Banff Trail are relatively few; just 4000 people call this place home. Of the 1800 dwellings in the community, 990 are single-family homes, with a large proportion of converted structures like homes with a developed basement suite. This is a popular avenue for renting out a portion of the home to temporary university students. The community is young, with 31 being the median age, 5 years younger than the Calgary average. The median income is slightly lower than the Calgary standard, with many residents holding a high school diploma or a post-secondary degree.

The Banff Trail Community Association offers residents a chance to purchase memberships. The membership allows holders to rent the facilities at the community hall, participate in sporting events, and be a part of the community garden, a free garden managed and cultivated by the neighbourhood.

Banff Trail Amenities

The Banff Trail C-Train is the local transit option preferred by many of the residents, many of which use it as their primary source of transportation. The C-Train helps service over 100 million riders every year along the 118 km of track throughout the city. Besides that, Banff Trail also has a number of biking trails that extend to the Bow River, the downtown core, and beyond. 

With the supervision of Banff Trail Community Association, the community features a couple of parks for its dwellers, the West Confederation Park and Banff Trail Park. Several other businesses are present in Banff Trail like 1st In Entertainment DJMonarch Music and Stadium Nissan. Residents can also attend worship services at St. David's United Church and St. Pius X Parish.

The university has 11 major buildings that are used for classes and other separate events. MacEwan Hall is a popular music venue for touring artists. Olympic Oval helps train winter athletes with a full-sized speed skating oval, two hockey rinks and a 400m elevated indoor running track.

The city of Calgary has several public golf courses including Confederation Golf Course next to Banff Trail.  This 9-hole golf course is open with a licensed snack bar, a clubhouse, and golf lessons. Canmore Park is another public space for residents to use, with a splash park, picnic tables, and playgrounds. Major hospitals like the Alberta Children’s Hospital and the Foothills Medical Centre are close by with world-class medical facilities and dozens of clinics.

Banff Trail Schools

Nearby to Banff Trail are some of the best schools in Calgary, including many within the community itself. William Aberhart High School is one of them, a high school with full French immersion and Spanish bilingual program. Banff Trail School is an elementary school for children from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Branton School is one of the only French immersion schools of its age group in the northwest, students feeding in from all communities surrounding it.
William Aberhart is a reputable school for senior high students, currently ranked 31st in the province. Its position in the top 20 high schools is a long-standing tradition. The school has an excellent advanced placement program, tailored to challenging the students with higher scores and providing world-class standards to the students of Calgary. Banff Trail regularly registers in the top 100 elementary schools listed by the Fraser Institute. These high marks come from a commitment to academic excellence assures its place in the ranking.
